In the center of the city, surrounded by sound, propelled by constant currents, there is a lush inner silence and comforting stillness. Ease is here, awaiting your arrival. Exit the super speedway of life and enter the Urban Ashram. A week retreat in your own backyard. Come comb through the knots of body and mind, to open the channels of breath, blood flow and heart-based creativity. Daily yoga and pranayamana in the mornings, illuminating conversation in the afternoons, then go home to your own bed for a good night’s rest. Together we’ll read and discuss the teachings of yoga’s essential text, and Gandhi’s bedside book, the Bhagadva Gita.
Teachers will learn to integrate dharma into “skillful action” through artful sequencing. Students will discover their own deepest values and highest purpose. Every year when we come back to the Gita we learn a new lesson and reveal another layer. Inspiration about career, love, health, habits and how to be happy are abundant in this classic text. Let the great blanket of these teachings wrap around you like a cocoon for real renewal. Spread your wings.
Clio is a student, mother, wife, a follower of the sun, the fun, the flow; an former New Yorker, a former fashionista, an enlightened mind-in-training, a hot tea fiend, enchanted with LA, infatuated with fresh juice, a composter, a chanter, a recovering type A, an emissary for joy, and an ERYT-500 through YogaWorks. For Clio yoga is a practice, a challenge, a calming, a calling, a community, a religion, her health, her home and the Hanuman monkey on her back since 1995.
At the core of her teachings is a celebration for our capacity to expand, love and live more fully. She’s grateful to all her teachers: Joan Hyman, Annie Carpenter, Ruth Lauer-Manenti and Elena Brower, and every student who teaches her how to look, listen and connect more joyously.
